Denmark has updated its Positive Lists for foreign workers effective July 1, 2026. The Higher Education Positive List now includes 190 job titles (engineering, IT, healthcare, research) and the Skilled Work Positive List includes 65 occupations (construction, trades, social care). The update reflects persistent labour shortages and offers a fast-track pathway for non-EU/EEA nationals with a job offer in a listed occupation.

Denmark has reintroduced a bill to lower the minimum salary requirement for foreign workers from 16 non-EU countries from 552,000 DKK to 322,000 DKK annually. The proposal aims to address acute labour shortages while maintaining safeguards through collective agreements under FH (Danish Trade Union Confederation). Target countries include India, China, USA, Canada, UK, Australia, and Japan.

These lists are updated biannually on January 1 and July 1, with interim adjustments possible for acute shortages. Inclusion on either list allows qualified non-EU/EEA nationals with a relevant job offer to apply for a combined Danish residence and work permit, typically valid for up to four years and tied to specific employment.
